The true names of the state of today's society
In their new book, the well-known economists Markéta Šichtařová and Vladimír Pikora, authors of several bestsellers, winners of the Magnesia Litera readers' prize and popularizers of the world of money, name the state of today's society by its real names. From how politicians are putting us in debt, to censorship on social media or the wave of activism, to the risk of misuse of artificial intelligence - they look at everything through the lens of economic laws and come to an optimistic conclusion!
Book With an android in bed is intended for anyone interested in current affairs. It exposes how easily the media can be abused, how easily the crowd can be manipulated into falling for politicians and various activists. It shows how to use our own common sense to avoid falling for half-truths. But don't expect a dry, technical economics text for pundits. The book is written with such detachment that you will devour it in one breath and still laugh.
Are we living in the Matrix? And how not to succumb to it? What can we do to prevent the state from robbing us of our savings? What can we do to prevent technology from putting us out of work? Where does the threat of a new Cold War come from? And how to not let all this overwhelm you, but instead use the changes in the world to your advantage? All these questions are answered in the book. Nothing is actually as bad as it may first appear...
