With a bright flame
The Dark Secrets of Bran's Pack
In her spin-off series, Patricia Briggs not only initiates us into more facts from the life of Mercy Thompson, but above all, lets us look deeper into the pack Mercy came from, and get a taste of not only fae, but also other, much darker magic.
Bran's pack has members living secretly in the woods, away from everyone. Bran knows very well why he keeps the other werewolves away from them, and he also knows very well why he has now decided to pack up and leave for a while. However, he doesn't share his reasons with anyone...
Charles and his mate, Anna, are trying to save two of the "wild" members of the pack, but in doing so, they come across disturbing clues, unpleasantly hinting at espionage and betrayal, and leading to more painful discoveries.
Who is the traitor? Can the wild ones be trusted? And if so, how is it possible that the traitor didn't reveal themself through the strong bonds of the pack? Bran has left his son very few clues, and his beloved Anna, a rare wolf omega, will have to take several risks for the sake of others. It won't just be the passion between the heroes that burns with a bright flame.
Patricia Briggs
Patricia Briggs' first novel, Masques, was published in 1993. The book was not a success and the author's career almost ended before it began. Fortunately, her second novel, Steal the Dragon (1995), sold much better, and her writing career slowly took off. The growing popularity of her books, along with her ability to create vivid, convincing characters, inspired her publisher to ask her to try writing modern urban fantasy. Briggs accepted the challenge and signed a contract for a series of novels starring Mercy Thompson. Smoke Bitten (2020) is the latest, twelfth instalment in the successful series and universe. The first book in the Mercy Thompson series (Moon Called) made it onto the USA Today bestseller list. The second instalment, Blood Bound, in turn, placed on the New York Times bestseller list. Iron Kissed, the third book, even took the number one spot on this prestigious list. The success was so enormous that more instalments of this as-yet-unfinished series are being created. The author also came up with a spin-off series, Alpha & Omega, which is also published by Fantom Print alongside the main Mercedes Thompson series.
