Why so easy.
This sociological essay, written in the history-making months of 1989 and 1990, is being published in its fourth edition thirty-two years after it was written. It tells the story of how the despotic socialist state in the 1950s first expropriated the family, the private sphere of life, only to see the family eventually colonise the state. It takes us back to the mindset of the turning point of its creation and provides still valid explanations of the lowest causes of the fall of the old regime, i.e. the private aspirations and enforced strategies of very different groups of nameless social actors of the old regime, the ones downstairs and the ones upstairs, that eventually led to there's hardly anyone left, who would be interested in keeping it going.
