What happens when the renowned commentator Jindřich Šídlo sits down with Tomáš Etzler, a contributor to the American CNN and former Czech Television reporter in China, to talk about journalism? What does this profession entail today, in the age of Facebook and YouTube? How is American journalism different from its European, or more specifically, Czech counterpart? And why do people actually move abroad?
A Czech journalist who served as Czech Television's permanent correspondent in China from 2007 to 2014. In 1999, he began working for CNN as a news editor and then spent five years as a CNN war correspondent in Haiti, Iraq, and Afghanistan. He has received numerous awards for his work, including an Emmy Award, which he won in 2008 as the first Czech to do so. During his time in China, he prepared and presented over five hundred reports and live broadcasts.

A Czech journalist and political commentator. He had a long tenure at the weekly magazine Respekt and the daily newspaper MF DNES, and later managed domestic news at Hospodářské noviny and Czech Television. Since 2016, he has been part of the video news team at the Seznam Zprávy portal, where he hosts the satirical show Šťastné pondělí (Happy Monday). In 2007, he received the Ferdinand Peroutka Award, and in 2013, the Journalism Award for best commentary. For his online show, he was awarded the Křišťálová Lupa (Crystal Magnifying Glass) in 2018.
