Whispering

After many years, doctor Sara Romani returns to the ancient village of Borgo Cargo in the heart of the Emilian Apennines, where her grandmother lives and where she meets not only her childhood friends but also memories she would rather leave buried in the past.

When eleven-year-old Rebecca, coincidentally the last whisperer Sara met, disappears, the doctor begins a frantic search for her, uncovering a series of mysterious disappearances of several local girls in the process. Sara is not playing detective out of boredom or for fun, she is driven by a compulsive inner need for redemption. And she soon discovers that she is not the only one who is hiding something and who is living in captivity of the past.

Storybooks offers a great pace of storytelling full of surprising twists and turns. Their quality lies mainly in the evocative atmosphere of the lesser-known parts of Italy, where progress meets tradition, represented by the figures of folk healers – in the human dimension and in the authenticity of the heroine, whose impulsive decisions often lead her into difficult situations. Sara Romani is not a character, that wants to, to identify with her, but the one that will allow the reader to.., to believe it and understand it.

Nownew writer Emanuela Valentini has brought together mystery, crime, and past trauma in After a suspenseful psychological thriller.
