What happens at the lake

My life took an unexpected turn, so I decided to leave New York for a while. I headed to my father's hometown, Laurel Lake, which boasts the title of the friendliest town around. I needed a break in a pleasant atmosphere like nothing else. Unfortunately, I didn't receive quite the warm welcome I was expecting. Right after I arrived, I ran into Fox Cassidy, an attractive but grumpy neighbour who, instead of a greeting, just grunted something at me. I admit, at that moment, I was holding his slightly demolished letterbox, having just pulled it out from under the wheel of my car. And without his help, I wouldn't have been able to get into the house I was supposed to be staying in because the key to the front door broke off in the lock. In short, I arrived in style! But come on, he didn't have to be quite so surly. Over time, I noticed that he sometimes looked at me in a way that wasn't entirely hostile. But I'd escaped to Laurel Lake to get away from my problems, not create new ones. And getting involved with a man like Fox would be asking for trouble. Then again, this year has really taken its toll on me. So why not have a little fun this summer? After all, what happens at the lake, stays at the lake.
