A standalone novel from the European Space Opera series by a popular Czech author.
The vast space transshipment port Terango (or Terminal Sycango) is, apart from its landing and take-off ramps, built entirely beneath the planet's surface, and its staff consists of eleven thousand people and over two thousand androids. It is essentially a city with complete facilities and services.
Everything is running as it should, until people start disappearing. Back on Earth, nobody knows anything about it until the daughter of the Deputy Director of the Baltimore FBI goes missing. The Deputy Director sends Investigator Moira Glace to Terango. On the one hand, he found her annoying and needed to get rid of her; on the other, it was clear to him that if anyone had a chance of investigating anything on Terango, it was this brash, uncontrollable loose cannon, which Moira is.
Immediately upon arrival, the agent understands that she is an intruder in a perfectly functioning, yet perfectly closed system that sticks together under all circumstances, including the artificial intelligence that controls all of Terango's operations. Besides, it couldn't be any other way, because the black market (weapons and drugs) accounts for thirty per cent of the port's traffic. The system very quickly analyses that Moira has stuck her investigative nose too deep into its structure, and therefore, she cannot return to Earth. However, Moira has a completely different opinion on the matter.
