Audiobook Rule, Do Not Disturb: The Opposition Treaty and its legacy. Author Erik Tabery describes the political developments since the end of 1997.
The book version of this audiobook dates back to 2006, but even after all these years it is still an inspiration and perhaps the time gap adds to its value.
According to opinion polls at the time, three-quarters of Czechs found domestic politics incomprehensible. This book attempts to show when and where people lost politics. What role did the main actors Miloš Zeman, Václav Klaus or Václav Havel play, or what specific events took place. The main focus is on the controversial pact between ODS and ČSSD, which provoked the most violent public reaction since 1989, when squares were filled again, petitions were written and coalitions formed against the opposition agreement.
The chapters are written in such a way that they can be listened to independently, which makes it easier for the listener to review. However, the meaning lies precisely in the awareness of the interconnectedness of all events, the consequences or continuation of which we may only today read about in the newspapers.
