Vehicles and lines of narrow gauge electric railways in the Czech Republic and Slovakia
Did you know that there is only one preserved urban narrow-gauge tramway in the former Czechoslovakia (in Bratislava) and that there are still two lines of funicular railways operating in the Czech Republic (in Karlovy Vary)?
A new book by a renowned author summarizes the fate of all narrow-gauge electrically powered operations in the Czech and Slovak Republics for which information can be found. These are both regional small railways and urban tramway operations, as well as railways of an industrial and forestry nature (all industrial railways in both parts of the former common state have unfortunately disappeared into one).
The main focus is on electric traction vehicles, with only marginal mention of trailers for passenger and freight transport. The interpretation is supplemented by unique and often unpublished photographs, tables with technical data, car drawings and maps of some networks.
