Ragnar Lothbrok is dead. His five sons are alive. And now they want revenge.
THE SONS' REVENGE is a historical detective story set in the Viking Age. Its plot is based on real events that took place in northern England in the years 866 and 867. It is the first part of a novel trilogy set in the early Middle Ages.
Spring 866. A Northumbrian village finds itself under Viking attack. In its heart, a boy named Wulf stands on the gallows with a noose around his neck, watching as the Scandinavian raiders plunder one dwelling after another. But the boy does not die in the flames; instead, he leaves the burnt-out village with the Vikings, who name him Rolf and take him to their fortress.
Rolf slowly realises that the attack on the village was not random. The five sons of the famous Viking Ragnar Lothbrok—Bjorn, Ivar, Sigurd, Ubbe, and Halfdan—have come to England to avenge the death of their father, who died from a snakebite in the prison of the Northumbrian King Ælla.
As the brothers' quest for revenge turns into a full-scale invasion and Rolf's own secrets begin to surface, a race against time begins. Will he have enough time to prove the king's innocence and prevent the immense bloodshed on the horizon?
