A spaceship trapped in an icy grip holds both threat and hope for all humanity
When an automated reconnaissance probe on the distant planet Marzanna-3 finds the exploration ship Fridtjof Nansen almost undamaged, humanity is offered the chance it has been waiting for for many years. The ice-frozen vessel, proven to have been hijacked by the mysterious Corsairs three years ago, appears to contain valuable enemy technology and possibly the bodies of the Corsairs themselves, who are waging an undeclared war on humans.
The closest vessel that can verify the rare find is the UTSS Salamis. She is currently docked at the UTSS Shanghai border station, where she is undergoing general maintenance after the battle with the Corsairs. Although the repairs are far from complete, Salamis, with a makeshift crew of Chinese marines and an intelligence research team, ventures far beyond colonized space to secure the wreck of the Corsair.
But the question remains, how did Fridtjof Nansen actually find himself on Marzanna-3? What made him land and what other threats lurk in the icy grip of the frosty planet?
