Unexpected killer
Who really killed the Swedish Prime Minister?
It is 1986, the last day of February. On a freezing evening, the popular Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme and his wife Lisbeth return from the cinema just before midnight. Palme has the last minutes of his life left — a few moments later, he is shot dead on a street corner by an unknown man. He is pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after 12:00. All of Sweden and Europe will be shocked. How could it happen that such a consensual politician as Olof Palme was assassinated in a peace-loving country? The most important: Who fired the shot?
The murder of Olof Palme became one of the greatest criminal mysteries of the twentieth century. In 2007, journalist Thomas Pettersson began investigating the case: The statements of one of the witnesses differed so much from the other witness statements that they were worth verifying. The result of the journalist' s twelve-year investigation is not only the internationally successful book The Unexpected Murderer, which reads like a thriller, but also a solved case: Based on Pettersson' s evidence and arguments, the Swedish police finally closed the case of Olof Palme' s murder.

Netflix series adaptation 2021
Thomas Pettersson' s phenomenal book The Unexpected Murderer apparently provided the basis for concluding the investigation into the murder of Olof Palme. And perhaps the investigators followed it.
