Unemployment
The book presents work, employment and job loss in their broader anthropological, social and economic context. Attention is paid to the philosophical, psychological and health implications of the long-term loss of work for people and culture. The solution to the problem takes into account the importance of work for people, the role of work in the life of the individual, the family and the wider community. In this context, the ambiguous problem of the replacement of living human labour by technology and some aspects of economic globalisation in today's world are also considered. The authors' reflections are based on a reflection on unemployment in the medical and social sciences, and trace the problems of the most common mental and somatic illnesses. The analysis of unemployment is expanded with excerpts from classical studies of the Great Depression of the 1930s.
