Time Wheel VI: Lord of Chaos

The power of the evil lord imprisoned in Shayol Ghoul is reaching further and further every day. …

Rand al'Thor seeks to unite the states for the Final Battle, which will occur when the Dark One is one day freed. After breaking several prisoners' seals, he is gaining strength, reviving two fearsome Zaprodans and sending the unprecedentedly powerful myrddraal Shaidar Haran to the scene, whereupon the world is seized with unprecedented heat. The White Tower in Tar Valon, under the leadership of the new amyrlin, has decided that the Dragon Reborn must be led again - and tamed if necessary. The Aes Sedai, who went into exile in Salidar after Elaida's coup, are of the same opinion. From there, Nyneiva and the heiress to the Andorian throne, Elain, set out on a journey to find a mythical artifact that could restore normalcy to the weather. But their search leads them among the white-capped who intend to wipe their order off the face of the earth. On the other side of the continent, another ta'veren, Perrin, feels the pull of Rand towards him, and the archers of the Two Rivers go to war for the first time in a thousand years.
The novel Lord of Chaos, nominated for the Locus Award, is the sixth installment of the monumental fantasy series The Wheel of Time, on which the series of the same name is based.

They wrote about the book:

Although Lord of Chaos brings a calming and new arrangement of pieces on the chessboard within the saga, it is a surprisingly entertaining read.

Robert Jordan

(1948-2007) American writer, one of the most important epic fantasy authors of the last few decades, was born James Oliver Rigney Jr. in Charleston, South Carolina, where he spent most of his life. After returning from the Vietnam War, he studied physics at a military academy and worked for the US Navy for several years. He published his first book in 1980 and through his writing later met his wife, editor Harriet McDougal. He began writing fantasy literature under the pseudonym Robert Jordan in 1982. He became one of the followers of Robert E. Howard, about whose Conan the Barbarian he wrote a number of new stories. In the second half of the 1980s he took a break for several years, during which he thought about his future masterpiece - the cycle Wheel of Time, whose first volume, The Eye of the World, was published in 1990. He then developed this original fantastic vision in ten sequels, published between 1990 and 2005, and the novel prequel New Spring (2004), whose plot preceded the events of the first episode. Although the author was diagnosed with a serious illness in 2006, requiring demanding treatment, he continued to work on the next volume of Wheel of Time. Yet Jordan's seminal work threatened to remain unfinished - until writer Brandon Sanderson took it on at the request of the author's wife. His fifteen-volume cycle was completed by the novels The Storm is Coming (2009), Towers of Midnight (2010) and Memory of Light (2013). A series based on the saga was produced by Amazon in 2021 and filmed mostly in the Czech Republic. Its first eight episodes are available to watch on VOD Prime Video.
