The Year of the Locust

The Year of the Locust: A dark thriller about espionage and global threat

Terry Hayes' thriller Year of the Locust, by the author of the cult book I, Pilgrim, is a gripping tale from the dark world of espionage, violence and global threats. The protagonist is Kane, an elite CIA agent who specializes in dangerous missions in so-called "forbidden zones" where the rules don't apply and only the most skilled survive. Kane is sent on a mission to the inhospitable borderlands between Pakistan, Iran and Afghanistan to get the man whose information can save the West from impending disaster. But instead, he encounters an enemy unlike any he has ever met - a brilliant and ruthless adversary who is willing to bring the world to the brink of destruction.
