The Witch Hammer 01: Magic for Everyone

Popular fantasy, action-packed scenes, black humour and sharp dialogue.
A brand new series in the style of Mark Stone or Agent JFK, but this time starring a team of unconventional detectives fighting against the supernatural. Prague, 2012. The end of the world could not have started in a more fitting place. And yet it seems so ordinary: someone is killing scientists who study magic, relations between the Inquisition and mages are more than strained, demons are trying to take control of the criminal underworld, new and very dangerous players are entering an ancient game, the dead are walking the corridors beneath the Olšany Cemetery, and a mysterious patient has been abducted from a mental asylum.
About the series
The Witch Hammer series will take you to our world as you do not know it... and as you do not wish to know it. At least not firsthand. A world of magic, dark spectres, living dead, assassins, demons, psychopaths, necrophiliacs, vampires – and we are only talking about the good guys. The ones they fight against are much, much worse...
About the author
Jiří Pavlovský (*1968) Born in Prague, he is a writer, comics (and film) journalist, translator and publisher. Along with other members of the Rigor Mortis literary group, he belongs to a generation of authors (including Štěpán Kopřiva and Jiří Kulhánek) who brought a breath of fresh air to Czech fantasy in the mid-nineties in the form of irreverent, cynical, and action-packed stories. He has published a number of short stories, both on his own and in collaboration with other authors, many of which have won genre awards: Noční návštěva (Night Visit) and Dobro vítězí (Good Wins) (Karel Čapek Prize), Eskorta (Escort) (Academy of SFFH Prize), and others. His novel Zatykač na Stonea (A Warrant for Stone) was published as a standalone title within the Mark Stone sci-fi series. Jiří Pavlovský not only invented Witch Hammer and wrote its first two instalments, but he also oversees it and intends to contribute to the series in the future.
