The story of the horse

In his novel The Story of a Horse, Russian novelist Leo Tolstoy tells the story of the fate of the horse Cholstomer, whose life's vicissitudes are surprisingly similar to those of a human. The fate of the horse hero is a magnificent metaphor for the fate of human beings - with all the cruelty, injustice and passion that life brings. The radio production was made in 1981 by director Jiří Horčička. Eduard Cupák will play the extraordinary role of a horse tested by life. He endowed his hero's narrative with an immense inner charge and emotional richness. Eduard Cupák's great partners in the radio recording of The Story of a Horse are Jaroslava Adamová, Rudolf Hrušínský, Vladimír Brabec, Viktor Vrabec, Jan Faltýnek and others. Young Cholstomer speaks in the voice of Petr Štěpánek. Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy began writing the short story Cholstomer (History of the Horse) in 1883, but later revised it thoroughly and finished it in 1886.
