The Spendthrift
Nikolas Renard has just celebrated his sixtieth birthday, and his worries about his stubborn daughter, Lucie, have only added to his grey hairs. She eventually runs away from home, and Nikolas's favourite student, Adam Croy, sets out to find her. The contrast between Lucie and Adam, who each cope very differently with the problematic situation they find themselves in, illustrates the feelings that fear and love evoke in a person. The main theme is once again reconciliation, but while Lucie needs to reconcile with God and her father, Adam must first reconcile with himself. And in this book, Nikolas reflects on the teaching of reconciliation from a father's perspective.
