The sixth child
The Four Monkey Killer case reaches a conclusion you would never have expected...
“Father, forgive me.” These three words evoke long-repressed, unpleasant memories for Detective Sam Porter. For Anson Bishop, however, they are the only link between his childhood and his present. And also the impetus to finally reveal the truth that has remained hidden for many years.
These words have appeared repeatedly next to murder victims. It might seem like a clear indicator of a serial killer on the rampage. However, this would not be the case if the victims were not found minutes apart, yet in several distant locations.
When Anson Bishop, the prime suspect in the Four Monkey Killer case, enters the Chicago police headquarters, chaos ensues. And no one yet suspects that Bishop is about to give a testimony that will not only turn the entire investigation on its head but also change the lives of everyone involved.
The frantic pace of the narrative reveals the truth about the unsuspected motive for the Four Monkey Killer's murders, and the entire trilogy hurtles towards a conclusion that can, without any exaggeration, be described as utterly unexpected and shocking.
J.D. Barker
J.D. Barker isn't one of those authors who dreamt of writing since childhood. His early work was published in a high school magazine, but it stood so far above average that the editor-in-chief of the 25th Parallel magazine approached him with a job offer. Barker spent several turbulent years on the editorial staff there with a man who would later become famous as Marilyn Manson. Alongside his journalism, Barker also began writing books. He sent excerpts from his debut novel-in-progress to Stephen King, asking if he could use the name of one of his characters. Not only did King give him permission, but he also offered enthusiastic encouragement for his future writing. A whole series of international successes followed, the greatest of which so far is the book The Fourth Monkey. According to reviewers, Barker's trilogy featuring Detective Sam Porter has pushed the boundaries of the genre. In it, Barker has created a psychopathic killer who has something of the anti-heroes from The Silence of the Lambs or the film Se7en; he is dark, terrifying, and fascinating.
