The Rhythm of the Year with Hanka Zemanová – August

In the past, people saw August as the harvest month. We would only understand the joy of harvest festival celebrations if we were truly dependent on what we had gathered. Today, we depend on the global food industry and eat anonymous food. We don't know its origin or the stories that become a part of it, and then a part of us. How about trying to transform the harvest festival into a decision to make our diet as seasonal and local as possible? Hanka Zemanová She graduated from the Faculty of Education, but instead of teaching children in school, she teaches people how to eat more healthily and naturally. She has written four bestselling books: The Organic Cookbook, The Organic A-Z, and The New Organic Cookbook, which have sold nearly 80,000 copies. In 2021, she completed her most beautiful and comprehensive book to date, The Rhythm of the Year. Hanka was involved in the founding of Pro-BioLiga (now Lovime.bio) and the Zemanka Organic Bakery. She is fond of the saying: “Though the father of the disease be unknown, the mother is always diet,” and therefore considers wholesome food the simplest way to reduce the “chemical cocktail” in our bodies and in nature. She shows that organic is not a trend or an unnecessary luxury, but an increasing necessity – for the soil, groundwater, biodiversity, and for our resilience and immunity. Hanka is from Prague and has lived in the countryside near Sedlčany since 2006. She is the mother of two daughters, Natálka and Eliška.
