The Premyslid Epic IV - The Poet King Wenceslas II.

The final part of the tetralogy, which ends the narrative of one of the most glorious epochs of Czech history, the time of the great Přemyslid kings, begins with the rulelessness after the death of Přemysl II. Otakar, continues with the reign of King Wenceslas II. and ends with the murder of his son Wenceslas III.

King Wenceslas II. was an extremely interesting personality, perhaps a little underrated in history. It was during his reign that the model of the Estates' State with a precise division of responsibilities between the monarch and the nobility was created. He was, of course, an artist at heart, himself an excellent minesengr, but also a man known for his erotic passion. His time is a time of court intrigue, of struggle among the nobility, of the rise of cities. It was at the turn of the 13th and 14th centuries that the face of medieval Bohemia was completed, and Luxembourg did not change it much. As in the previous works, the plot of the novel takes place over a wide area of Christian Europe, with all the members of the Přemyslid dynasty as well as important personalities of the time.
