The Phenomenology of Spirit
This work, conceived by Hegel as an introduction to the system and simultaneously as a philosophical justification of it, grew into a unique exposition of the system itself. It has influenced European intellectual history and philosophical knowledge in many of its fields. This translation, which has its starting point in Jan Patočka's translation, is based on the academic edition and adopts its extensive notes, which refer to the philosophical, scientific, and literary context of Hegel's ideas and also provide references to thematically related passages in the text. It was created in an effort to meet contemporary standards for the publication of classic works and the advanced state of research.
