The mystery of the Chernoli murders

The year is 1645 and Martin, a retired soldier, returns from fighting in France. Before he visits his parents, he stops by his sister Joan's house, whose innocent advice will change not only his life, but also the life of the whole family. The unexpected return of her son is the beginning of tragic events that culminate in Johanna's death. The main suspect in the murder is her husband Victorine.
"She killed herself! You have to trust me!" says the desperate man at the inquest. "She came back from her parents screaming that everything was her fault and that she couldn't live anymore!"
Investigator Borek begins to have doubts about the main suspect and decides to investigate all the circumstances that led to the tragic events. Witness interviews take him deep into the past. He soon becomes convinced that he may never be able to convict the real killer...
