The man who will never sleep next to me again

“ I look at the man sleeping next to me, who from tomorrow will forever be my ex-husband and will probably never fall asleep by my side again… ”

The story begins during the last night of their life together after eleven years of marriage, which has slowly ripened into separation. Lucie eventually goes through situations, painful and sometimes even comical, which this change brings into her life.

This intimate narrative full of personal memories of childhood and small incidents of everyday life gradually portrays Lucie's whole story and shows her as a daughter, mother, sister, friend and wife. A childhood constantly overshadowed by an older sister, a father hiding a major secret and a cold, self-centred mother whose life takes a dramatic turn towards the end. Lucie is a strong, honest heroine with a realistic view of the world. She is going through all the uncertainties and complete destabilization that divorce brings to a grown woman, the mother of a child, and her entire family. Sometimes she is completely sure of her decision and the fact that she no longer loves her ex-husband, sometimes she has doubts…

This well-written novel by a successful Argentine writer with a slightly nostalgic touch will make readers take a fresh look at their own emotional lives. “ The man who will never sleep next to me again” is a reflection on love, marriage and loneliness.
