The Man in the High Castle

A chilling vision of the world

It is 1962 and fifteen years after the American surrender, California is under Japanese occupation. But there is a strange book circulating around the United States, amid Japanese amusement and German fury, in which the Allies did not lose World War II. The truth about the world turned upside down is perhaps hidden in the hints of the oracular Book of Changes of the I Ching, whose hinted language occupiers, collaborators and bitter patriots are trying to decipher.
Philip K. Dick won his only Hugo Award for Best Science Fiction Novel in 1963 for one of his most accessible and ambiguous books, and today it is a universally acclaimed classic of alternate history, and as such has recently received a successful series treatment as well. The new illustrated edition is accompanied by a comprehensive foreword by the renowned writer Ursula K. Le Guin.
