The Legend of Garonne

Garonna, Rennard's daughter, is learning swordsmanship on the tranquil island of Dai-ho-ko when the mysterious Mirlaupan appears in her life. With him, she travels the world using the Keys and Doors, learning the history of her race, which only vaguely resembles the human one. At the same time, she is unwillingly drawn into the bloody conflict between two irreconcilable families, the Raileys and the Moyns, whose mutual hatred spans the chasms of time and space. Jiří Mazurek (1974) belongs to the new generation of Czech fantasy writers, and in a relatively short time, he has managed to publish a number of high-quality short stories. The magazine Ikarie primarily publishes his science fiction (Living Colours, Skyscraper, Coald Mine, etc.), while Pevnost features his fantasy (The Eyes of Mag'reb, The Spy). In addition, he is the author of the young adult sci-fi novel Želes (2007) and the winner of the Karel Čapek Prize for The Legend of Garonna. This is a loose sequel to The Legend of Rennard (2009), which was also published in the Pevnost Edition (vol. 44).
