The heinous Bolshevik murders

In the Hussite town of Mladá Boleslav, a quiet morning is shattered by the discovery of a severed finger in front of the house of a wealthy merchant, Pavel. Shortly afterwards, the body of a murdered carpenter, Štěpán, is found in the town pond. The magistrate, with almost no evidence, accuses Pavel of his murder simply because the deceased had once courted the merchant's wife, Matylda. Matylda then turns for help to the regional governor, George of Poděbrady, who entrusts the investigation to Knight Lukáš of Velyně, a former Hussite warrior. His companion becomes Knight Norbert of Malkov, a friend of the owner of the Boleslav estate. The initial accusation soon begins to crumble, while the number of mutilated corpses grows. Nothing makes sense, and to uncover the mysterious murderer, the investigators must delve deep into the past.
