The Hand of Night is Offered. New, expanded edition.
When we feel afraid and try to push the feeling away, it returns in a less obvious but stronger form. However, if we start preparing for a crisis, we surprisingly feel a sense of relief. This book is about family preparation for a crisis that might never happen. The first part of the text discusses the character traits of people who survive crises and how they act. The second part provides the most practical instructions, such as how to disinfect water, which filter to buy, how to store food, or how to create a warm room in a house affected by a power outage. We distinguish between four types of rapid crises—an unexpected event, a blackout, an epidemic, and social unrest—and one slow-burn crisis situation, such as the decay and impoverishment of society. The writing of this publication, which has been in preparation for several years, brought together a scientist who has been studying crisis trends for years, an engineer who attended survival courses and alternative practitioner meetings in Austria back in the 1980s, a police officer with many years of service on the streets, a polar explorer capable of crossing Greenland on foot, and a member of a crisis management team who not only participated in flood relief but, most importantly, planned and led a blackout team. A similar publication aimed at the ordinary person and the average family has never been published in our country.
This new edition of the book is expanded to include experiences from the COVID pandemic and the energy crisis that have affected the world in recent years.
