The fiancées of death
A dark detective story from the eve of the Second World War from the author of the bestseller The Crimson Rivers
The Fiancées of Death, these are the ladies "from the Reich", beautiful and carefree, who meet every afternoon in Berlin's Adlon Hotel to chat and drink champagne, while Europe teeters on the brink of collapse on the eve of the Second World War. But they are also the victims of a mysterious killer who surprises them one by one on the banks of the Spree or by the lakes of Berlin. After his rampage, only mutilated corpses remain. In a red-hot Berlin, trembling like the crater of a volcano, three unique individuals take on the investigation. Simon Kraus, a gifted psychoanalyst, gigolo and something of a blackmailer. Franz Beewen, a brutal and merciless Gestapo officer, and Mina von Hassel, a wealthy heiress and psychiatrist. They set out on the trail of the monster and gradually uncover the shocking truth. After all, evil is not always where you expect it.
