The fiancées of death

A dark whodunit set on the eve of World War II from the bestselling author of The Purple River

The fiancées of death, it's the ladies of paradise, beautiful and carefree, that meet every afternoon at the Adlon Hotel in Berlin, to talk and drink champagne, while Europe is on the verge of collapse on the eve of the Second World War. But they are also the victims of a mysterious killer who gradually surprises them on the banks of the Spree or at the Berlin lakes. After his rampage, all that's left of them are mutilated corpses. In a red-hot Berlin that is literally shaking like the crater of a volcano, three unique beings embark on an investigation. Simon Kraus, gifted psychoanalyst, gigolo and a bit of a blackmailer. Franz Beewen, a brutal and ruthless Gestapo officer, and Mina von Hassel, a wealthy heiress and psychiatrist. They follow the monster's trail and gradually uncover the shocking truth. Evil is not always where you expect it to be.
