The educational potential of text for younger school-age pupils

This collection of texts, with suggestions for their analysis, is designed for primary school teachers. It is based on text typology and builds upon the traditional concept of didactic interpretation of literary works in schools. It further develops this concept and, through a model of a text's educational potential, links literary analysis with the systematic analysis of linguistic devices. The publication focuses primarily on fiction and poetry for children and younger readers. It particularly concentrates on the function of various linguistic devices within the text and their contribution to shaping meaning, aesthetic impact, and the overall literary-didactic effect. The specific excerpts are complemented by a well-founded explanation of how they can be used in teaching, demonstrating that linguistic analysis can contribute to a deeper understanding of the text and the comprehension of its interpretive possibilities. With its approach, the book aims to connect the literary and language components in the teaching of Czech language and literature, also serving as a support for teachers.
