When the frail body of twelve-year-old Holly Mitchell is found on the steps of a church in a luxury wedding resort with a pine cone doll clutched tightly to her chest, Detective Josie Quinn rushes to the scene. He knows the girl: her mother offered to help Josie. While searching the girl's house, Josie is devastated to discover that Holly's mother is also dead and her little sister is missing.
