The dark joys of predators

A Panorama of Sexual Murders 5.

A schoolboy longed for an adult woman to initiate him into the secrets of sex play. When he couldn't win her favour by fair means, he put on leather gloves and armed himself with a knife… The “date” ended in a double murder…
The finale of a unique and exceptionally extensive project mapping the history of domestic sexual murders is here. The previous volume, Evil Spirit, was praised by satisfied readers with a 98% success rate: “Another absolutely excellent book. Anyone interested in criminology cannot be disappointed,” we read in the electronic book database.
The fifth volume of the sought-after Panorama deals with crimes committed between 1974 and 2017. The framework of thirteen cases is filled with both archival cases, which still fascinate criminologists and forensic experts with their scale of brutality and often unexpected, but not relieving, resolutions, and more recent ones.
Modern cases, dating from 2010, capture the pace of the times; in addition to DNA analysis, the perpetrator's “digital footprint” in the form of mobile phone and credit card use, and of course CCTV footage, contributes to their capture and conviction. Bloody crimes often have their prelude on the internet, sometimes to a rap rhythm, other times in a hardcore style… However, the dark souls, the dark joys of predators, remain virtually identical across the decades.
In addition to analysing the act, describing the perpetrator's motives, and summarising key expert opinions from the fields of psychiatry, sexology, and psychology, the author also focuses on the operational work of detectives in the field and commentary from representatives of the murder squad.
Capturing the most heinous crime possible in all its forms – the final book of the Panorama series also handles this with excellence!
