The case of the mad tambora

The mysterious landscape of South Bohemia in the first half of the seventeenth century, the towns of Třeboň and České Budějovice with their adjacent villages and isolated places are the setting for the story of people who, at a crucial moment in their lives, found themselves under the vault of the dark torture chamber of the Budějovice town hall. The justly and unjustly accused, their accusers, the judges and the executioner with his young henchman. It was he who began to write down his recollections of the course of the court cases, whether it was the crimes of the former military drummer and deserter Lukášek or the rescue of two beauties, of the innocent Clara, accused of poisoning, and the blacksmith's wife Magdalena, who decided to avenge her husband's cruel death. The fates and characters of other characters were also marked by the Thirty Years' War, the author, however, proceeds from the principle, that all these people, regardless of the time, in which they lived - they were able to love, to hate, to think and dream like we do today.
