The blade of entropy

A cut full of black humour and cynicism. Comic author Proofreader comes with his cynical prose debut.

Tonda Vořezálek opens his eyes to the world in which he died. He meets again his loving wife and friends from the cosy retirement home - and kills them all. The demon he brought from the underworld is hungry and wants to enjoy himself. However, the demon soon discovers that the human world is not the idyllic place that legends and travel agencies in hell portray it to be. Hunters, bad luck, and perhaps even ancient powers are hot on his heels. He can't escape from everyone, and his carefree killing for pleasure turns into a fight for survival. He measures his strength with Satan, discovers that Earl Grey can be leached into a strong concoction, and at the height of his madness, he drives along the fully passable D1 motorway. Eventually, a planet-wide apocalypse will be unleashed around him.

Vilém Koubek

(born. 1988) has been involved in video game journalism since his youth. After studying Czech language at the Pedagogical Faculty of Masaryk University, he also devoted himself to editing texts, thanks to which he started publishing comics together with Jana Kilianová Proofreader (2014). He is currently the editor of the magazine 100 + 1 foreign attraction. He likes to declare that he can find beauty in the most extreme corners of culture, and he brings this distinction to his writing. He debuted with a splatterpunk novel The blade of entropy (2018), which he followed up with the critically acclaimed post-apocalyptic sci-fi Organic noose (2019). In 2021 he published the first of Vincent Krhavy's noir stories, entitled Posthumous surrender.

Excerpt from the book The blade of entropy

Such an escape from hell is not exactly a walk in the park full of horny virgins. Many hell-dwellers have already wondered what the point of their confinement in the sphere of suffering actually is, and the question of freedom is even debated down there with some long-dead philosophers. However, most of them do not know how to deal with the question and the more courageous ones are called fools. So it is taken for granted that under the cover of the heat of hell all beings are held by a force that cannot be understood. Despair thus paves the way to accepting the fact that one should not run away. Especially if you are demons, which means you are serving Satan: you're his whores, meat for the grinder and basically girls for everything. And who would let such a great and powerful auxiliary force go? But if you really try, it works.
