The black sheep of the family
Some people experience a lack of emotional support or even outright terror in their childhood. Such an experience contributes to anxiety, feelings of guilt, and other difficulties. Black sheep often doubt whether they are ungrateful because they do not feel love for their family. They long to be acknowledged and at the same time are burdened by a sense of responsibility for not being so. This book by psychotherapist Peter Teuschel provides a series of therapeutic recommendations for people with similar experiences. According to him, one of the key steps is to create an emotional distance from the family and control one's own impulses. Black sheep must also learn to focus on their own values and not depend on external recognition. Among other things, the author suggests “order therapy” – creating a practical order that supports a sense of control over one's own life in these individuals.
The book also contains many case studies from the author's therapeutic practice. It is intended for psychotherapists, as well as clients with this type of difficulty.
