The black darkness of oblivion

Don Miller is happily married to a woman who is everything to him. At the same time, he has suffered from mysterious memory lapses all his life and rarely recalls some strange incidents from their past together. It is only at the end of his life that Don reveals, why they're afraid of the dark in the first place, why the basement door of a country house scares him so much, that his wife inherited, and all that lies in the surrounding woods...
