The best is when good is better than better

A distinctly readable novel, Better Is Good Than Better has three basic storylines in which the present and the past intertwine: The first one concerns an eventful current trip of several days of four seventy-year-old friends, the second line is represented by reminiscences of their earlier, mostly common stories and their different interpretations. The third story line is linked to the narrator's personal memories and reflections.

The novel is full of sparkling dialogues and situations in which the protagonists, as in their youth, argue and argue with varying intensity. Everything is illustrated by interactions during random encounters with strangers and a number of witty glosses and observations on the world in positions ranging from pure hilarity through a certain grotesqueness to various existential reflections and glosses.
