The Battle of Sinai
The Casimir fleet has a terrifying advantage, but the Sinaians never retreat and honour the principle of an eye for an eye!
The Hirano Sector is experiencing interesting times. To put it mildly. Although the Casimir Empire has paused for a moment after the exhausting massacre at Simeral, everyone knows it's just the calm before the storm. Admiral Sean Tyler, in particular, knows that this storm will be deadly – for him and his closest allies. Tyler is the new commander of the Allied fleet in Sinai – the Astonian Union's last unoccupied ally. But even though the local inhabitants have no intention of surrendering, morale is at rock bottom under the constant attacks of the insectoid Mortis, and ships are scarce. Nevertheless, a counter-strike is needed. Or rather, several blows must be dealt.
A battle the likes of which the universe has never seen is brewing in interstellar space, and the conflict is rapidly escalating on other fronts too. The deadly dancer Michael Kowalski therefore sets out with his Commandos to a mysterious planet where the Mortis are bred, and where a harsh truth about Casimir war research awaits him. Meanwhile, Commander Vivian Evans becomes an unwilling diplomat in dealings with the Teradons. One might almost say that the sleeper agents on her ship and a brutal Casimir commander who takes no prisoners will be a welcome relief for her…
Jan Kotouč
Jan Kotouč has set out to prove that a Czech author can succeed with a major military sci-fi series. He first found success in the Karel Čapek Prize in 2008 with the novella 'Too Close an Encounter', in which he first visited the Hirano Sector. This was followed by novels charting the growing tension and subsequent military conflict between the expanding Casimir Empire and other interstellar states. The author has also contributed to the Agent JFK series and published alternative history novels ('The Sun Never Sets Over the Czech Lands', 'The Czech Lands' Offensive'). His new novel, 'Frontiers of the Empire', opens the planned 'Central Empire' tetralogy. He is also one of the few Czech authors to have broken into the English-speaking market. In addition to writing, he holds creative writing courses, teaches at a university, and runs the literary tracks at a number of Czech conventions.
