The Alchemy of Secrets

Folklore 517: Local Myths and Urban Legends is taught by a mysterious woman everyone simply calls the Professor. Most students dismiss her stories as fiction, but Holland St. James has always believed that magic is real. When she manages to track down a local legend, the Time Keeper, who can supposedly predict the day and hour of a person's death, Holland's excitement knows no bounds. But there's a catch: the Time Keeper informs her that she will die at midnight the next day unless she can find an ancient rarity—the alchemist's heart. The clock is ticking, and as Holland delves deeper into the magical world hidden within the very heart of Los Angeles, her path crosses with a captivating stranger. Holland has mixed feelings about him, but he claims her sister sent him to protect her. As they search for clues and explore legends that bring them closer to the alchemist's heart, Holland slowly begins to realise that everyone in this intoxicating new world is lying to her, including the mysterious stranger. And if she can't figure out who to trust, not even the alchemist's heart will be able to save her.
