The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn
A famous American novel that has rightfully become one of the pillars of modern American prose. When it was written in 1884, it did not bring Mark Twain the same success as his previous novel about Tom Sawyer. It was pulled from American libraries for being a bad example to young people. After all, choosing a boy from the dregs of society as the narrator – that took courage. And to build the story on the friendship between the ruffian Huck and the escaped black man Jim, creating a bond between them that is strong and warm, tested by the many dangers of their journey to freedom down the Mississippi River, required a completely new perspective from a man who was ahead of his time. This work is published in a new translation by Jana Mertinová.
