That damn rock

"Never in the field of human conflict have so many owed so much to so few," Winston Churchill said after the Battle of Britain. And exactly the same is true of the handful of knights and other members of the Johannite Order, better known as the "Knights of Malta". Together with several hundred volunteers and mercenaries and several thousand inhabitants of this rocky island in the Mediterranean Sea, halfway from Africa to Italy or from the Middle East to Spain, they stopped the attempt of the tenth Sultan of the Ottoman Empire, Suleiman I, in the summer of 1565. to begin the fight for the Golden Apple, the Eternal City. The knights were not just fighting for their own existence, but also for the future of Europe, so that churches don't turn into mosques and those Christians who survive and do not give up their religion, not become another slave to the "deputy messenger of God", i.e., the followers of the ideologue of the "holy war" and world domination of the "true faith" Mohammed.
Yet, or precisely because of this, the anniversary of this event has remained programmatically ignored by the "politically correct" media in European countries. The fact that you're here hasn't changed that, Prime Ministers of the European Union meet in Malta at the height of the commemorations, to worry about it, how to convince your citizens, that there is no war going on between a world based on Christian traditions and Islam, and that waves of Islamic immigrants are heading west along the tried and tested routes of the Ottoman armies, that have attacked Europe from these directions, are something positive.
The argument is juggling with "European traditions", but it doesn't come up anymore, that one of them is to defend these traditions, as demonstrated and mostly paid for with their lives by those who stood with weapons in their hands on the walls of San Elmo, San Angelo and San Michele, to drive you back into the sea, who came there, to impose their own traditions and beliefs on them, sword in hand. In this context, we cannot forget the few members of the Order who have rushed to Malta from the Crown Lands to join this effort, knowing that its cost is the highest.
