Robert Bryndza for the third time in Dark Depths. And in great form again!
Popular Chief Inspector Erika Foster has left her job on the homicide team and is now investigating organised crime. Her search for evidence in a major drug case leads her to a flooded quarry on the outskirts of London. Here, police divers find not only £4,000,000 worth of heroin, but also the skeleton of a child...
And it wouldn't be Erika Foster, a tenacious fighter, who wouldn't prefer to investigate the death of a seven-year-old girl who disappeared twenty-six years ago. And again, this will not be an easy case, because someone does not want the case to be solved, and is doing everything possible to stop the resumption of the search and Erika.
In his third book, Robert Bryndza brings us what we are used to: a complicated case, suspense to the last page and well-developed characters. We should appreciate, however, that with each new book comes a new story construction.
After the "classic mystery" Girl in the Ice and Night Hunt, where he revealed the killer halfway through and let us watch the fight between him and the police, presents again an original plot - the case, that took place in the deep past and where, it seems, everyone is hiding something. And after reading it, it is quite appropriate to conclude that "some secrets are really better left deeply hidden..."
