Tasmania

Paolo Giordano's fifth novel, Tasmania, can be classified in the genre of auto-fiction. Its narrator and protagonist is a physicist who writes for a living, is currently working on a novel about the atomic bomb and is going through several crises: a midlife crisis, a marital crisis, a creative crisis, and at the same time a climate crisis, a social crisis, in short, a crisis of our world. We follow his life's wanderings over a period of about seven years, from the terrorist attack on the Bataclan in Paris to the retreat of the epidemic of covid. Seven years characterized by a frenetic acceleration of life, technology development, polarization of opinion and society, as well as paralysis, stopping and needing contact, that's not just virtual. "But why do we enjoy reading this sad confession about our present? Giordano's narrator is a very pleasant companion. He himself is floundering in his story and doesn't understand it very well, it's clear to him, that he has no patent on reason, and therefore does not teach." - Jovanka Šotolová, https://www.iliteratura.cz/ „Jedním z trumfů Tasmánie je, how the private and the public - or the intimate and the political - are naturally intertwined here."- Ondřej Horák, https://www.lidovky.cz/orientace Paolo Giordano: Tasmania | Translated by Alice Flemrová | Read by Ondřej Rychlý | Directed by Jan Herget | Sound, editing and mastering by Oliver Lipenský | Music by Oliver Lipenský | Recorded at NAPA Records s. r. o. | Graphic design by Jana Lhotáková | Production by Kateřina Višinská | Published by Euromedia Group, a. does - The recording is based on the book: Paolo Giordano, Tasmania, TASMANIA, Copyright © 2022 Giulio Einaudi editore s. p. a., Torino, Translation © Alice Flemrová, 2024, Published by Euromedia Group, a. does - Odeon, 2024.
