Svatopluk Čech: Mr. Brouček's Trip to the 15th Century

With the novelist, poet and lover of Prague Castle, especially the Na Vikárce restaurant Svatopluk Čech, and his unheroic hero Matěj Brouček, we find ourselves unexpectedly in the fifteenth century. Mr. Brouček, a native of the New Town, who lives happily in the 1880s, is thus thrown, to his horror, into the midst of the conflicts of the Hussite wars. The confrontation of the language, customs, and above all the attitudes of our warrior ancestors with a typical representative of the petty bourgeoisie is the source of many comic situations.
