Studies in Czech Morphology and Syntax
The leading Czech linguist prof. Jarmila Panevová presents and summarizes her lifelong scientific work in a volume of selected studies. The papers she has written during her more than fifty years in linguistics are scattered in many different journals and conference proceedings, and are only partially reflected in the author's synthetic works. For the purpose of presenting the development of her views and her professional interests, she selected 25 essays written in Czech and focused her attention on four problem areas (titled I. Studies in Morphological Meaning, II. General Questions of Syntax, III. Questions of valence, IV. Questions of reflexivity, reciprocity, coreference and control). < br> Significant are the references to the collaboration with Peter Sgall, the author's teacher and close collaborator, who had a significant influence on her linguistic development. He is also the author of a theoretical framework for dependency and multilevel description of language, called. Functional generative description, which the papers printed here build on and further develop.
