Strength, calm and courage
Kimberly Brown wrote this book a few months after the COVID-19 pandemic began. In it, she shares numerous insights from Buddhism that help with managing difficult life situations and major crises. It was during the pandemic that she realised people were still struggling with their mental health even after restrictions were lifted, and that they needed advice and help. She has enriched the book with practical exercises based on Buddhist tradition. These focus not only on handling the hardships everyone faces – coping with grief and loss, family problems, and working with anger and restlessness – but also on boosting self-confidence and self-esteem, and developing love for oneself and for others. The author explains Buddhist principles using real-life stories, placing them in a modern context. She clearly shows that even when a situation develops very unfavourably, we are always able to restore our inner balance, find courage, and enjoy life.
