Stonefall
The allegorical novel The Stone Orgy by Yevheniy Kononenko combines two symbolic, interwoven stories. Each of them takes place in a different time period: one tells the story of the life of the community of early Christians before the Roman Empire adopted Christianity. The second plot takes place in the present, in an unspecified location, has a slightly fantastical feel and at the same time refers to that story from the distant past. The author, with ironic insight, describes the marital drama of a writer and a programmer, who come to the realization that unraveling the secrets of their lives is not easy at all - unclear relationships do not protect them, but rather harm them. The novel asks a number of important questions. Is it possible to change fate, to influence reality? Is everything that happens to a person inevitable? Were people' s feelings in ancient times the same as they are today? And when does a man truly start to respect a woman? And he answers that understanding between the sexes is no longer facilitated by established patterns of behavior, but by the creation of values and self-realization.
