Frankie Elkin, who readers first met in Before She Disappeared and who searches for missing people, learns of a young man who has disappeared in a national forest. After some time, the authorities stopped the search, but a group of people led by the young man' s father still hasn' t given up. Frankie agrees to help - but soon sees that the missing person isn' t the only thing wrong here. And when more people start disappearing, Frankie realizes she' s up against something very dark - and above all, that she' s running out of time.
