Someone's banging on the door

During a blizzard at the end of January, someone bangs on Judith Miller's door. The woman goes to open it. She has no idea who is on the other side. She cannot know that her life is about to take a completely different course and that she will later remember this moment as the beginning of both the best and worst things that have ever happened to her. Two other people, Anna Kowalska and a lonely man, are in a similar situation. They too have no idea that if they take even a few steps in a different direction from their current path in life, it could have fatal consequences. In Maardam, crimes continue to be committed. Although Inspector Jung, Commissioner Van Veeteren's successor, tries to investigate them as thoroughly as possible, one cannot shake the feeling that for some of them, it would have been better if they had remained unsolved.
